Bach's lovely, ethereal opening aria from his "Wedding Cantata" weaves the vocal and solo flute (originally oboe) lines in and out of each other like purest silk brocade. Here we've been able to fill in with portions of the accompanimental figures so that neither instrument is left dangling for very long. The dark shadows of mist rising from the lake make way for the cheerful sprightly dance of the middle section, and then both clarinet and flute are able to soar and shine again with the enchanting melodies of the ritornello.
